2007 NPA News
As the Natural Physique Association prepares for another year in Bodybuilding, Fitness and Figure the NPA reports some great news. The building bought on November 1, 2004 is occupied and the one year mark has come and gone.We are happy to report that in 2006, Si-Flex experienced its best financial earning in its seven year history.
The Natural Physique Association continues with its mission of discovering the champions of tomorrow and allowing opportunity for those who love the sport. Still in remembrance of Vernon and Catherine Harrison who helped our vision come alive, we continue to lose great people, however keep in mind we all will get there. Very important to live each day to its fullest!
GraduateSchool is over and I made it with a 3.5 average. Commencement was held at the Richmond Coliseum on Mother's day, May 13th. I'd like to thank J.W. Hicks, Toni Johnson, Carlos and Sharlene Taylor with family CJ and Hannah, my family, YeSok, Rochelle, Vernell, Nikita for the dinner at Piccadilly’s and Dr. Clairborne Shelton, Dr. Krohn, Dr. Franklin, Dr. Baekler, Dr. Linda Person, all the associates who gave cards, and President Eddie Moore of VSU for doing such a fine job. I am truly thankful and proud to be an alumni of Virginia State University. Just one more milestone and accomplished in this venture called life.
Thanks to the United States Army (20+ years of honorable service which includes 36 months as a drill instructor, 27 months service in the old guard and 24+ months as a First Sergeant), I today fully understand what I didn’t at the time, duty/honor/country. Into my 59th year I find myself sometimes remembering old acquaintances, appreciating life, thankful for good health, family, friends, fans and blessings. I've started training again and hopefully this year begin the preparation for one more show in another Natural organization.
Our recruitment for Officials and Judges will resume in March of 2008, as we are planning on hosting additional clinics. We have an abundance of great people at this time, who are professional, qualified, and true pioneers/ambassadors of the sport. We figured approximately 300 years of experience reside in the organization today.

Our first contest kicked off April 14th, at the Virginia State University; the Mr. /Ms NPA Virginia Bodybuilding & Fitness/Figure State Championships. Prejudging started at 1 pm and Final started at 7 pm. This year's Virginia was very entertaining and drew in 23 paid athletes, with 22 showing up to compete for the title.
Our second shows the NPA Nationals and Masters Universe were successful as well. Drew 29 athletes and a good supportive audience. Paul Bates reigned a second time and newcomer Lesa McCoy won the women division. Elizamarie Mcwilliams, Gloria Knight-McNeil women bodybuilders also earned their their Pro elgibilities.
Life is continuous and each day brings it's own challenge. In spite of curve balls that may be thrown from time to time we must keep the faith. YeSok Silas is going through one of the biggest challenges of her life and we need all to pray for her. We believe in all things and know that God exist in our spirits.
Congratulations are in order as the Natural Physique Association Professional ranks had its best turn out to date with 8 males and 5 females competing Pro athletes. The show was a total success and Doug Hailey earned the big payout one more time squeaking by newcomer Kent Bierly on a tie breaker to make his 6th total win. Lesa McCoy with Eleanor McBride absent earned her first big payday and is positively a challenge to all future and present NPA female Pro athletes. Story will be posted in full by 27 October. The Fall Classic bought to focus 13 year old sensation Jerry Maitland III, Figure guru Lindsay Williams, Bodybuilding Championships Veronica Coy and Ryan Riebau and drew 15 competitors with one disqualification (tardy for registration).
Yesok for now has beaten cancer! She'll have to adjust to a different life - style. However, the prays that all sent, work. Everyday must be lived to the fullest this is not a joke! Until you experience it, you might not understand it.
The Tri-Cities was the best one the NPA has promoted thus far. A good success and we can't wait until the 2008 season kicks off. We sincerely thank all of those that supported us in 2007 and those of you that didn't we are still doing it and will continue to do so. See you in 2008 enjoy your holidays with your love ones who may be your family, fans or friends./Harry E. Silas
